Hope for Children is committed to preventing and protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse, and to promoting environments where children grow up safely with their rights upheld. To read our Child Safeguarding policy, please click here.

We come into contact with children primarily through:

• The work of our country office in Uganda.
• Projects delivered by partner organisations in our other priority countries.
• Fundraising activities, mainly in the UK, but also occasionally within our project areas.

We commit to promoting a welcoming, safe, and nurturing safeguarding culture that protects children and vulnerable adults with whom we come into contact from the risk of harm, and to respond professionally to all concerns brought to our attention. We achieve this by:

• Implementing a safe recruitment policy and procedures for everyone working with or for us.
• Having a clear Code of Conduct for working with children, which our staff and partner organisations know and adhere to.
• Ensuring all our staff, volunteers, trustees, consultants, representatives, supporters, and project visitors are aware of our child safeguarding policy and their responsibilities under it.
• Risk assessing our work in relation to child safeguarding and putting in place measures to reduce and prevent harm and promote the best outcomes for children.
• Having a designated Child Safeguarding Officer (CSO) in each Hope for Children office.
• Putting in place procedures for reporting and then responding to safeguarding concerns and breaches of the Code of Conduct/Safeguarding policy.
