Hope for Children Overseas Volunteering Programme: Uganda, Sri Lanka

In the Overseas Volunteering Programme, you will experience first hand, the work that Hope for Children supports. You will teach children, hear about their hardships and experience a culture which is completely unique; and all against the beautiful backdrop of Uganda and Sri Lanka. To take part, the fundraising minimum is £2500, 100% of which will go to Hope for Children.

During this programme you will:

  • Teach children
  • Organise and run, extra curricular workshops
  • Help in HIV awareness/care work
  • Experience the breathtaking beauty of the country, with weekend visits to local tourist attractions
  • Meet and work with local people who have lived in the community their whole lives
  • Work and live in remote villages which cannot be reached by tourists

Volunteers comments:

“I have never felt like I have made such a difference, in such a short time”

“I saw almost immediate improvement with all of the children I worked with.”

“The group were lovely; they had a brilliant work ethos.”

UK Opportunities

HOPE for Children are always looking for people to help us with our work on a voluntary basis. It's one of the reasons we've always been able to keep our costs so low and ensure we keep our promise that all public donations go directly to the cause for which they were donated. So if you'd like to help us out at our Hemel Hempstead office then please do get in touch. We need help with day-to-day stuff, as well as fundraising, events and more specialised roles such as marketing, PR, HR or development expertise. If you’d like to help in any way we’d love to hear from you. Please send an email to hope@hope4c.org to receive more information.

Internships

HOPE have introduced a new intern scheme. At present we are looking to take on a finance intern, a programmes intern and a fundraising intern. We hope the scheme will not only help HOPE deliver their work more effectively but it will also help grow the pool of volunteers we have working with us. The scheme will also help equip you with the necessary skills and experience to find a job in the development sector. The scheme will last for 6 months and we’re happy for you to work on flexi-time or for the interns to work part-time (3 days a week). The role is unpaid, we will however give you a daily allowance. If you are interested or would like to receive more details please send an email to hope@hope4c.org.
